History Brief:
Settled between 1740 and 1745 as that part of Farmington (along with Bristol) known as Farmington West Woods or Great Forest, this section was incorporated in 1774 as the Society of New Cambridge and incorporated in 1785 as the town of Bristol. In May 1805, the General Assembly separated out the town of Burlington. Town vital records begin 1806. Barbour collection records cover 1806-52.
