History Brief:
In May 1684 the General Assembly appointed a committee to order the planting of a town above Norwalk or Fairfield. The plantation of Paquiage was formed and on 16 October 1687 petitioned the General Court to be constituted as the town of Swampfield. The Court, however, selected the name, Danbury. Town vital records begin 1800. Barbour collection records cover 1685-1847.
